GENERAL ELECTION
1 THE OTAKI SEAT.
Mr. G. H. M. M'Clure, Commissioner of Crown Lands, sent in his notice of resignation to-day, which notice operates in three months' time. Mr.' M'Clure intends, at the expiration of his notice, to enter the political field, and will contest the Otaki scat in the interests of the United Party, led by Mr. Wilford.
In replying to a request that.he.should stand for the Auckland West seat at the General Election in the interest of the Eeforni Party Mr. J. H. Gnnson, Mayor of Auckland, has given a definite refusal. He stated that he would refuse to accept nomination for any seat.
