The House cf Commons has voted £15,000,000 to provide for part of a prfagr.imine involving an expenditure of £35,000,000, for extending and reconstructing the telephone system, laying lines underground, and providing trunk cables and new exchanges. Mr. F. G. Kelleway, Postmaster-General, declined to proceed with automatic exchanges, declaring tb.at the cost is prohibitive.
