Immortal means not mortal, undying, having life that shall never end. And can it be that I should gain An interest in the Saviour's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing- love! How can it be That Thou,' my God, shouldst die for me ? It is better to read:— That Thou, my Lord, shouldst die frame. Of He who died the angel said: "Come, see the place where the Lord was lying." Matt 28, 6. The word God may apply to Jesus in a subordinate sense. John 20, 28. "But to us there is but one God, The Father . . . and One Lord Josus Christ." 1 Cor. 8, 6. 'Tis mystery all; The Immortal dies! Who can explore His strange design? It is better to read: — 'Tis mystery all! The Saviour dies! It is neither a mystery, nor is it strange, that a mortal man should die, when ne is killed, as was Jesus. But it is impossible for a person immortal to die. The word IMMORTAL, UNDYING, HAVING LIFE THAT SHALL NEVER END, cannot apply to Jesus, who said: "I am He that liveth, AND WAS DEAD " Rev. 1, 18 Jesus died, Body, Mind, Soul, and Spirit, His breath was breathed out, and He/coased to be a living person. "He poured out His soul unto death."" Ps. 16. 8-10. Acts 2. 26----27. Paul says of "Our ' Lord, Jesus Christ, Who gave Himself for our sins." Gal. 1, 4. That word "Himself" means the whole being of Jesus. Our LOVE and ESTEEM for Josus should not load us to falsify facts, and state that He who was Mortal was IMMORTAL. If so, wo should hesitate to sing: "I do believe, I now believe that Jesus died for me " I£ Josus did not die, it would make it aniroar that tho great work of REDEMPTION was not TRUE. That Jesus is now Immortal is a fact. Ho declared, "I am alive FOREVER MORE." Rev 1, 18. It is needful to have, and use "SOUND SPEECH THAT CANNOT BE CONDEMNED; that he that is of the contrary party may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you." Titus 2, 8. DAVID NIELD. 8 PER CENT.
