BUTTER FIRM, CHEESE STRONG.

The butter market is very firm. Buyera are nervous about the future, anticipating a serious shortage later, so there has been much buying for storage.
New Zealand. —Choicest is quoted at 194s to 1965; secondary, 186s to I9os.
Australian.—Choicest, 188s to 190s; exceptionally good lots, 1925; secondary, 170 a to 182s.
Danish.—About 2045, The production in Denmark and the rest of the Continent is seriously affected by the drought.
The cheeae market is strong. New Zealand, first grade, white and coloured, is quoted at 86s to 88s. Australian.—White, 84s to 86s; coloured,, 80s to 84s.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, has received the following cablegram from its London houae, under date 16th instant:—
"New Zealand Butter—l9Bs to 200s per cwt. Market firm. Cheese—B6s to 90s per cwt. Market steady."
