CLAIM FOE £2000 DAMAGES,

HAMILTON, This Day. A civil action to recoyer £2000 damages tor alleged negligence was commenced in the Supreme Court before Mr. Justice Herdmaa and a jury. The plaintiffs are Elsie S. Seiver and another, and defendants Ellis and Burnand. The case arose out of damage done by fire to plaintiffs' land near Ongarue, plaintiffs alleging the fires were caused hy sparks from the defendants' bush tram engines. Tile defence is a denial of responsibility, or, alternately, that if responsible the damages are grossly exaggerated. The case is proceeding. ,
