INTERESTING COMPARISONS.

SYDNEY, This Day.
The statement is made that the cost of running the Commonwealth ships under Australian articles is considerably greater than that of rumivng similar vessels under British articles. The Largs Bay, under Australian articles, would cost £2688 pel" month, as against £1496, the cost under British articles'. In adidition, the initial cost of the vessels exceeded the estimates*by 25 per cent., being a million and a-quarter each, instead of one million. This involves additional charges for depreciation, interest, and insurance.
