AN INTERESTING RELIC.

Sent down to remove an obstruction in the harbour a of Lorwick, Shetland, divers found the timbers of an old ship. They brought to the surface four cannon, which, although coated with rust and barnacles, were in a fair state of preservation. Each .was over seven feet long with a bore of about three inches. Pieces of timber also brought up were found to be of we-11-pre-served oa-k. Apparently the wreck is that of the Dutch warship De Haan, which W2s sunk in Lerwick Harbour in June, 1640, when four armed vessels of the Dutch East India Company fought a fierce engagement with 10 armed Spanish ships.
