"BOTTLED SUNLIGHT"
The invention of an electric lamp which .will burn for three years without current is reported in tho New York Tribuuo. The new product, which is described by manufacturers, as "Bottled sunlight," is tho work of an Italian engineer, O'uan Tomadelli. Tho secret of its niyslorious property, states the Tribune, is closely guarded, those responsible for its manufacture oven stating that armed detectives are night, and day round the experimental factory in New Jersey. It is described in general terms by its inventor as a selfsustaining incandescent electric light that will burn a long time without connection with any source of electric supply other than itself. "The light itself," he adds, "id radiated from a minute metallic candle of secret composition." The_ lamp is abo said to produce its light without the generation of heat, the temperature of the bulb never rising above lOdog. Fahrenheit, instead of lOOdog. in the case of an ordinary metal filament lamp. It can be made of any siM or power, from the household lamp to powerful arc lights suitable for kinema projection and street lighting. The coßt of the lamp for household purposes is estimated at about 12s. According to the Tribune, it is expected to appear on The market this summer.
