BLACK AND TANS COMING TO AUSTRALIA
Complaint has been made by a certain section in New South Wales that exmembers of the "Black and Tans" are being sent to this country. Member* of the crew of the steamer Moreton Bay, which reached here recently, assert that the Black and. Tans are coming to Australig, on every Commonwealth Bay steamer. It is stated that 35 came on the Moreton Bay. When they came on board anyono could see that they were drilled men, looking like officers. Several of them admitted that they had been Black and Tans. This caused feeling amongst the crew, and led to several fights. In one encounter a member of the crew was knocked unconscious, the Black and Tan ending the fight by walking on the man's face, whereupon the other members of the crew set upon him, giving him a hiding. The union officials take the view that the Black and Tans are being quietly drafted into Australia for use when industrial trouble happens. One union official said it seemed natural, to suppose that the employers and perhaps tho Government would be glad to have at its disposal men who would work with less scruples than the ordinary military..
