The Senate.Finance Committee decided on a permanent wheat tariff of- 30 cents a bushel. This is a compromise between ■the Payne-Aid-rich and emergency tariffs. The new rate is designed to prevent the influx of Canadian wheat, such as occurred when the emergency law, which carried a ;35 cents, rate, was being framed.
