PARAMOUNT AND ARTCRAFT.

Two big feature films are to be shown at the Paramount and Artcraft Theatres to-night. ,The first is a William'l Fox drama entitled "Shame." The story opens in San Francisco, where a young man named Fielding is living happily with his wife. There comes to San Francisco an old enemy of Fielding's father who tells the young man that he is the son of a native woman, and Fielding seeks refuse from the scorn of civilisation in the wild lands of Alaska. The wife, distraught, follows with, the company secretary. Their sled is beset by wolves, and the secretary slips off, rifle in hand, while the dog team speeds on. Before a lonely cabin the team stops and Fielding appears and carries his wife indoors. Before the door can be shut a wolf springs in and a terrific fight between man and beast commences. The man triumphs, but as he stands shaken and weak, his old enemy, enters with murder in his heart. Fielding sets about defending himself against hopeless odds when a spurt of smoke scomes through the cabin window and the trader falls. The secretary has arrived in time to save his employer's life and to dispel his imaginary fears and shame. The second production will be the Selznick picture, "The Woman God Sent," featuring Zena Keefe.
