At a swimming carnival to-night, Miss Pauline Hoeft participated in a 150 yards scratch race against local champions. She won by half a yard m lmin 52 1-lOsec/ which was an. nounced as beating 'the previout worlds record for the distance for ladies by IJ-sec. 'The previous Dominion ladies record was held by Miss Q. Nuttall, of NapiA. Miss Walrond had to'do better than 15min 36 l-ssec, and. her attempt was i successful, as she swam the distance-in 14min 28 4-ssec, a reduction of lmin 7 2-ssec, unpaced.
