DEFENCE RETRENCHMENT
REDUCED TERRITORIAL AGE.
• With reference to the reduction in age of trainees in tho Territorial Force under the Defence retrenchment scheme, as given in another column, it is officially stated tkst this will not come into effect until on and after the Ist June. Notices are now being sent out to tho Posting Committees throughout New Zealand notifying that on and after Ist June trainees who reach the age of 21 years during the ensuing training year are to be posted to the. reserve. This, however, will not apply to officers and n.c.o.'s, who will be given the option (as at present) of continuing to serve voluntarily after they have reached the age of 21 years.
