ALLIES' DEMAND
GERMANY CANNOT RAISE THE MONEY
CHANCELLOR DENIES EXTRAVAGANCE. (Received March 29, 2.30 p.ra.)
BERLIN, 28th March. Dr. Wirth, addressing the Reichstag, denounced the demands of the Reparations Commission. The Allies' demand for a further 60,000 million marks in fresh taixation was impossible in the condition of Germany, and th» Parliament of the country could jiot impofeo such burdens on the people without consulting them. It was not possible to raise a fraction of the amount. It was scarcely possible to raise another sixty millions. There seemed to bo an idea that Germany was extravagant, but she was doing everything to restrict her expenditure. The stabilisation of the mark was impossible without an international loan and the revision of the Versailles Treaty.
