MR. FIELD AND KAPITI ISLAND
TO 111 HITOR.
Sir, —I write, not to discuss the main questions at issue with regard to Kapiti, for, as you say, in your leader of the 21st, all are practically agreed on these questions, but to refer to a statement of yours that does not seem to mo to coma within, the limits that decent methods in controversy allow. You say with regard to Mr. Field, ". . . When, as a member of the Kapiti Island Advisory Board, ho interviewed the Minister of' Lands, his manifest anxiety to prove his vigilance in Kupiti mattert was one of the least impressive features of the function." As I remember, Mr. Field made very slight reference to his services, but the Minister paid a. well-deserved tribute to them. —I am, etc., H. B. KIRK. 24th Marofy [Wo must" agree to differ from our correspondent.—Ed.]
