SONATA RECITAL.
The sonata recital to be given on Thursday evening, 30th instant, by Ava Symons (violin) and Bernard F. Page (piano) is likely to cause great interest to lovers of music in this city. Chamber music,is seldom, heard in Wellington, unless by good fortune visiting artists give a chamber music concert during their visit to this country. The Sonatas, to be performed are the Handel in D Major, Beethoven in F Major, and Lekeu in G Major, a work seldom performed, and to be heard for the first time in New Zealand. .Lekeu u-as a pupil of Cesar Franck, and although he died in 1894, at the age of 24 years, left works which leave no room for doubts of his genius. Tickets are available, and the box plan is open at the Bristol Piano Company, Lambton-quay.
The final appearance was made a.t tha Opera House fast night by 'Miss Maude Hanaford and her compiriy in "Tlie Sign on the Door." Tho Wellington season has been most successful, and theatregoers have reluctantly farewelled the talented actress and company, who have given them such' pleasure.
