AMATEUR ATHLETICS
MEETING NEXT SATURDAY.
Tlie amateur athletic season is to be brought to a close on Saturday next when an interesting programme of events will be decided at the Basin Reserve under the auspices of the Wellington and Victoria, University A.A. clubs. As; many of the Dominion's leading athletes are members of these clubs the outing should be up to championship standard. The 'Varsity athletes are" particularly interested in the meeting, as they are to compete at the N.Z. 'Varsity championships at Auckland on faster Tuesday, and performances at the Basin Reserve next Saturday will le a good indication of Victoria College's prospects of retaining the 'Varsity championship. In flat and field events competition is likely 'to be. keen, the entrants including H. E. Wilson, P.'Munro, L. A. Tracey. A. Jackson, H. E. Moore, H. C. Whyte, D. Brown, Paris, and Woods ('who is being specially coached by P. Munrp for the 'Varsity shot-putting championship). An endeavour is Being made to have .C. H. Taylor (Canterbury) present at the meeting.
Much interest is also being taken in the inter-College championships (including a relay), and the Primary Schools' Championships-, which are to be decided during the afternoon, and attached to which are the Blundell Cups. Other events for boys are also included on the programme.
