SISTER SHIP RECENTLY DAMAGED

The accident follows close upon the narrow escape of n sister ship, H24, last month. The destroyer concerned then, the Vancouver, belonged to the same flotilla as the Versatile. Most of the H olass wore built in Canada during the war. i
The Navy has now lost ten submarines in peace time and forty-seven in war time.
[During the Atlantic Fleet's exercises off Majorca last month the destroyer Vancouver collided \vtih submarine 1124. The submarine had its conning tower and periscopes shorn off, but there was no. loss of life. The destroyer Versatile has a displacement of about 1300 tons, and is-300 feet long; and her'full speed is about 35 knots. The H42 had a submerged displacement of 500 tons, and thus was among the smallest class of submarines now in 1 the Navy.] .
