ALLEGED MANSLAUGHTER

Robert Dasler, a labourer, pf-Sydcn-ham, was arrested to;day for alleged manslaughter, of Edward Samuel Darrell, who died in the Christchurch Hospital on 13th March. At the induest oa Barrel] early in the week, it transpire! that deceased was found lying at the back of the Opera House on the evening of 6th March. He was arrested for drunkenness, but was subsequently admitted to the Christchurch Hospital. There he complained that he had fallen and hurt his head. Prior to arrest, Dasler had stated to the police that he and deceased, on the' afternoon of 6th March, had had an altercation, after which' blows were struck.
