M'DONALD'S ENGAGEMENT.

LONDON, 7th March.
The Westminster Gazette says that a professional cricketer is entitled to sell his skill in the best market open to him. In the case of county cricket and international cricket there is no open market. Albert Trott only came when he found himself unappreciated in Australia. M'Donald's case is altogether different. It is difficult to find fault either with the Australian attitude or the Nelson Club's, but the affair is regrettable, for big pricket is the lossr by M'Donald's defection. The spirit of the game is not made healthier by business transactions of this kind.
