The refusal of the Chamber of Mines to recognise the Industrial Federation i has given great offence in trade union circles. A mass meeting of three thou- < sand strikers in Johannesburg demanded a general strike. It is believed, nevertheless, that no matter how the ballot goes the men will return to work in increasing numbers. , , \ (RKUTER'S TKI.IOItAM.) . , CAPETOWN, 6th March. The strike leaders have completely split, and the three principal bodie«, the Strike Committee, the ■' Council of Action y and the Industrial Federation,^ are a 6 loggerheads. The first two de 7 ' man'd a general sympathetic strike immediately and --he remodelling of the federation.' This Labour chaos has raised the temper of the strikers, who are actively picketing. Strikers shot in the leg a worker trying to esca'pe-them, bill despite intimidation men are returning to work in increasing numbers.
