THE SWIFTS CLUB.
Twenty-eight, yeant have elapsed) since the club commenced operations, stated the report placed before the annual meeting of the Swifts Association Club last evening, and \ past. members h were to be congratulated on. the enthusiasm they had shown; arid' should fe«l proud that their efforte had had their due reward in the sense that the chib is still "carrying on." The past recordl of the club as a whole was one to be envied, and it behoved all during the coming season to endeavour to place the club in that high position (from the playing point of view) which, a short time ago was the delight of its supporters. < The past season showed that there are ■still members who are optimists. Th«ee teams were entered in the competitions last season—senior, junior, and fifth grade. The membership of the club last season was over sixty—a larger number than had been the caee. for several years. The prospects, therefore, ,were excellent. The finances of the club, the report) continued, were in a fair position, and, everything considered', the coming sea<son held very good promise for the club.
The following officers were elected for the season : —President, Mr. C. P. Skerrett, X.C ; vice-presidents, Messrs. R. Pye-gmith, F. J. Courtney, H. G. Mayer, J. Oilier, Dr. Isaacs, L. White, J. Pye-Smith, P. R. Pye-Smith, |J. Smith, G. Wilson, H. J. Gravee, D. Scott, W. M. Matheeon, R. Hutcheson, F. Sanders, J. F. Atlrine, A. B. Goble, W. Olouston, J. S. O'Brien, G. F. Guise, A. S. Penlington, J. F. Mills, and H. Guise; club captain, Mr. J. H. PyeiSmith; hon y secretary, Mr. A. S. Key; assistant secretary, .Mr. F. P. Gnise; hon. treasurer, Mr. E. P. Flaws; Management Committee, Messrs. E. W. Guise, J. Kean, D. Shillwn, C. G. Bird, 0. Kimmins; hon. auditor, Mr. J. Sutherlandl; delegates ;to ! W.F.A., Messrs. E. P. Flaws, E. W. Guise/A. S. Penlington. Fifteen new members were elected. It was decided that three teams Tie entered —senior, junior, and fifth class. A gymnasium has been obtained for practice, and a tour of Nelson will be made at Easter.
