The Conciliation Council met to-day to consider the watersiders' dispute. The matter was taken in committee.

The employers ask for wages at the rate of Is 7d per hour, with 2s 4£d for overtime, a bonus of 3|d, and extra rates up to 5d per hour for handling special cargoes.

the union makes counter-proposals for 2s 5d per hour for ordinary work, and up to 3s 2d for special work; overtime at the rate of time and a-half for the first two hours and double time thereafter. The rate under the old award is 2s 3d, with a penny bonus.
