MASTERTON, This Day
A petition from electors of. tho Akitio county against being transferred from tho Pahiatua to tho Masterton electorate has not been allowed by the North Island Representation Commissioners.
At a .public meeting last night, it was decided to make arrangements to hold a 13. Grade band contest in Masterton this yoar, probably in October. Officers were elected, with Mr. A. P. Whatman, patron, Mr. O. N. C. .Pragncll, president, and R. J. Young, secretary. A strong executive committee, was sot up, and it was decided to secure 30 or more guarantors of £11) each.
Owing to n judge Tint being availnblo on the dnto fixcH.l for thp opening of tho sessions of tho Supreme Court at Masterton (14th March), a postponement to 20th March ha* been arranged.
