AMATEUR ATHLETICS
A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association was held last evening, Mr. A. T. Davies presiding. Other members present were: Messrs. A. C. Kitto, H. C. Murray, B. A. Guise, S. S. Deans, M. Burnett, and V. Hugo (honl secretary). A good deal of correspondence in connection with the Springboks' tour., was read. The financial result of the tour, it was stated, would not be available until all the particulars of receipts and expenditure had come to hand. The meeting at Auckland had shown a credit balance of about £150.
The New South Wales Association wrote inviting New Zealanders to the track and field events where the Springboks were competing on 11th/ and 18th March.
Applications by clubs for affiliation were dealt with, and several were referred back to the centre. The Marist Athletic Club (Otagoj were granted affiliation, provided that the rules were in order.
Quite a number of applications for reinstatement were considered. A few were granted, some refused, and- others referred back to clubs. .
