Twelve months' probation was granted to a woman named Isabella Cousins, who was convicted by Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court to-day, of the theft of a handbag and other small articles valued at £4, the property of Maud L. P. Egan. The police case was that the complainant had boarded with the accused, who had taken the articles. The story told by Cousins was that she had found the bag'in Dixon-street, but the Magistrate was not inclined to believe this.
