LONDON, 4th March,

The Daily Chronicle's correspondent at, Berlin states that two of Germany's most dangerous criminals have been captured in a remarkable manner. A'married couple recently settled in Schmerin, and appeared to bo wealthy. They were received in good society, and entertained lavishly. Suddenly the wife was taken ill and removed to hospital. She was told that she must undergo an operation, and she bectime alarmed at the prospect of taking the anaesthetic, and confided to the nurses that she was afraid that she might reveal things while unconscious. Later she said that none must know about a certain chest cpntaining gold. The police heard the story, and guessed that the couple _were smuggling gold to Holland, and searched the house. They then found that the man- was a locksmith named Droll, and the woman a Bavarian named Clodow. The chest contained a large amount of minted and bar gold, while papers show,ed that the couple were criminals, against whom there are charges, including the murder of an old women near Lubeck, and the theft of ourios from Kynsburg Castle Museum in Silesia, worth many million marks. While posing as a. wealthy couple they carried out numerous burglaries in Sehwerin. Kroll has been imprisoned three times and escaped from gaol.
