GERMANY

RUMOURS THAT HE MAY BE

PRESIDENT.

(VKITIB PRIM AIF( CIATION.—COPYRI4IT.)

(AUSTRALIAN - NEW ZEALAND CAILJ ASSOCIATION.)

{Received March 6, 9 a.m.)

LONDON, 4th March,

The Observers Berlin correspondent reports that an extraordinary revulsion in public opinion has restored the exCrown Prince to popular favour. .It was started by a chance discovery of his likeness to Frederick the Great in a widely shown film, and has since steadily grown, until it has assumed wide dimensions, which, pending the publication of his memoirs, is likely to consolidate all classes, including many republicans, who share in the new feeling. Even Theodore Wolff writes in the Tageblatt urging that the Prince be allowed to return to assist in the development of 'Germany. Wild rumours are afloat, crediting the exile with excellent chances of securing the presidentship of the republic. In short, he is easily the most popular figure in Germany to-day.
