WELLINGTON MUNICIPAL. TRAMWAYS BAND.

'Under most favourable weather conditions, the Wellington ' Municipal Band, under the leadership of Mr. T. Goodall (Australasian cornet champion), rendered a very high-class programme of music at the Public Hospital yesterday afternoon. The- record- number who took advantage of the beautiful day were entertained to a musical treat, for the band, which still., maintains its , full .contest strength, was heard to advantage'in the following numbers :—Contest march,-. "Ravenswood"; waltz, "Sweet. Idle- 1 ness"; cornet polka triplet, played by ,Mr. Goodall; test selection at recent contest,' "Tschaikowsky"; overture, "Cordelia" ; morceau, "March of Mountain Gnomes"; and the "Mikasa" march. That those present appreciated the band's effort was shown by the generous response to the collectors, for during the afternoon the sum of £12 10s was donated to the Hospital funds, for which the authorities desire to tender'most grateful thanks.
