ST. PATRICK'S DAY

The programme of sports to be held on Saturday. 18th March, at Newtown P*rk, appears in our advertising columns, and. should attract largo entries. Over £100 has been allocated by the committee for prizee and trophies. A dancing competition programme has been prepared, and includes the N.Z. championships for the Irish feel and Irish jig. The procession win be a feature of the celebrations, and will start from the Government Buildings. It will include two bands, 16 tableaux, motor oars containing Archbishop Redwood and the clergy and prominent Irish citizens. Members of the Hibernian Society will march in regalia, and the senior soholare from St. Patrick's College and the Catholic schools will take part.. A spectacular figure drill display will be given by ever 1000 children at tho Park.

The concert will take place at the Town Hall on Friday evening, 17th March. The committee has secured the services of one of Australia's best soprano Binders in the person of Mis? Winnie Fraser, also the New Zealand contralto. Miss Mabelle Esquikmt, and the popular New Zealand soprano, Mis 3 Teresa M'lnroe, Mr. George H. Andrews, the Timaru baritone, Mr. H. F. Woods, the Wellington tenor, Messrs. Phipps, Goudie, Brown, and the Lyrio Quartette, Mr T. Goodall, solo cornottist, tho Marist Bros.' Choir, M'Laughiin's Orchestra, and Mr. Harold Whittle. Tho box plan opens at The Bristol on the 13th.
