TEAM FAILS TO SCORE.
A recent primary schools' match m Ashburkoi wae notable for an' unusual performance. The Hampstead School was playing the AsWburton Bfeough School in the Ashbarton County Schools' competition. The Borough side won tihe toss, snd decided to bat, but, it wins dismissed without scoring a run. Two Hampstead bowlers "ran through" the sidie in five overs, L. Beauvis taking six wickets in three overs," and. O. Broker four wickets in two overs. Hampstead declared, .its first innings closing at 71 runs for three wicket*. The Borough, School was dismissed for 15 iruns in its second! innings. This time Beaiivais took four, wickets for two runs> and another bowler, Brown, three for none. Both rides had full elevens. Hampstead's performance in dismissing the opposing side without a 'run being scored is believed to be a record in primary, schools' cricket. Wis-den-'s Almanack says that there are over sixty instances of teams being dismissed without scoring a run, in minor matches; but it does not mention whether or not these include school-.teams.
