TO BE CHEAPER
FLOUR AND FLOUR PRODUCTS
PENNY FALL ON 4LB LOAF.
Bread is to fall in price by a penny for the 41b loaf on 4th March in the South Island, and on 11th March in the North Island. The anouncement was made to-day by the Hon. W. Nosworthy on behalf of the Minister of Industries and Commerce in the course of a general statement covering alterations in the price of flour and flour products. Details are as follow:—
Flour.—Subject to the same discounts and terms as last year; to be reduced from a base price of £21 per ton to £18 per ton.
Pollard.—Subject to the same discounts and terms as last year; to be reduced from- a base price of £9 per ton to £8 per ton.
Bran.—Subject to the same discounts and terms as last year; to be reduced from a base price of £6 per ton to £5 per -ton. Bread.—Subject to the same discounts and terms as last year; to be reduced by id per 2lb loaf. The alteration in price with, respect to flour, bran, and pollard will come into operation on the Ist March, but in order to allow bakers an opfvortunity of obtaining stocks of flour at the new price, the alterations in the price of bread are to. take effect a-s from 4th March in the South Island and from 11th March in the North Island.
