The Board of College Governors' scheme for raising money for new buildings having been approved by the Minister and by Cabinet, stated Mr. T. R. Cresswell, headmaster of Wellington College, in a report to . the board he ihad made, at the chairman|s request, preliminary inquiry from various corporations as to their ability and readiness to finance the board. Certain legislation was found- to be essential, and 6 clause was inserted in the "Wash-ing-up" Bill. The Department was not, apparently, very sympathetic towards their building plan. During an interview which he hncl had recently with Mr.. CaUghleV, Director of Education, lie asked when he thought the proposed building could he finished nnd suggested that an attempt should bo made to complrta , the. new dormitor.iei by ihe end of the year.
