LONDON, 24th February. Lady Cook, Lady M'Bride, Lady Lucas, Lady Connolly, and Mesdames M'Whae, M'Ewan, Hunter, and -Ashbolt, at Buckingham Palace presented Princess Mary, on behalf of Australian women resident in England, with an Australian opossum skin rug, a pair of fur footmuff6, and a small gold jewel case bearing the ■ Australian soldier's badge in platinum. Lady Cook said the gifts carried the constant homage,' Jove, and good wishes of Australians. The Princes* in her reply said : "I am sensible to the great kindness of the Australian ladies resident in London, and I will treasure the rug which is so characteristic of Australia, and also the jewel case as very pleasing souvenirs."
