TRAM SERVICE
VIVIAN-STREET SECTION.
A strong desire for an improved tram service via Vivian-street was expressed at a luncheon held by the Te Aro Advancement Association yesterday. Mr. T. Hair pin moved: "That further action be taken immediately to obtain the widening of Vivian-street with a view to haying the tram service increased." A proposal was also made by Mr. Halpin that a deputation should wait on the City Council to urge that the work be carried out. He saw no reason why the duplication work should not be commenced straight away. It would relieve the congestion of traffic at Courtenay-place, as it would enable more cars to be diverted by way of Cubastreet.
The proposals were favoured, and it was decided that all present should comprise a deputation to wait on the City Council or the Tramways Committee at a date to be arranged.
