PROGRESSIVE BUSINESS
CUBA-STREET SHOPKEEPERS,
It has been decided by the Te Aro Advancement Association to hold luncheons once a month, the idea being to enable shopkeepers to cooperate more closely in fostering trade in. Cuba-street. The first luncheon' took place at Dustin's Rooms yesterday. _Mr. A. A. George, president of the association, expressed the hope that it would be the forerunner of many such social functions at regular intervals. It afforded members a splendid opportunity to co-operate for their mutual advantage and discuss means of popularising Cubastreet as a business thoroughfare. It was essential to their progress that they should show the public, thattKey were working in harmony in business and trade methods. He urged the members to east aside all selfish motives, and discuss amongst themselves any .ideas that would tend to foster trade in their part of the -city. On the motion of Mr. Cole it was decided, that a monthly , luncheon be held by the association on the first Thursday in each month. The mover referred to the general desire of shopkeepers in Cubastreet to "boost" their portion of the town. Hoyconsidered there was no reason why at least 45 pei- cent, of the people who travelled ,to tho city from the southern suburbs should not pass through Cubaetreet.
