WATER-POLO
The water-polo. competition in connection with the swimming champinships was advanced a further stage yest-erday afternoon, when Canterbury A and Auckland met. The game was keen, and play was marked by excellent direction in throwing the ball to the goal. Canterbury showed clever combination, and quickly gained three goals, to which the Northerners replied with a similar number. Another good shot gave Canterbury the lead, but Auckland again equalised^ From a penalty the South men scored again before half-time. Vigorous play was renewed in the second spell, but Canterbury increased their lead and finally won by nine goals to six.
