CONFLICTING STATEMENTS.
The member "for" Lyttdton (Mr. M'Combs) has been investigating a statement made by the member for Christ-ch-iirch North (Mr. Isitt), that a person representing himself as unemployed had asked 24s for a day'ss'gardening atLyttelton. Yesterday in the House of R-epresenta-tiyes, Mr. M'Combs quoted a. letter from the person supposed to have been offered the work denying the statement: He asked if the Minister of Immigration would abstain froni accepting uncorroborated statements from the member for Christchurch North against Labour. Th* Minster said that he did not say that Mr. Isitt had given him the information-, and," morebv^i;, he ,did, not "say 2ts was asked, but 225. He had made the statement he did believing it to be correct. . ; V. V '."'.. Mr. M'Combs 'did not appear to'be satisfied, and he waved his letter before the House, but no satisfaction was given him.
