IMPROVING ROAD SURFACES
The City " Engineer to-day made a start with the improvement of the road surface in front of Lambton Station, where the dust (in the summer) and the mud (in the winter) have caused a nuisance for so many years. The square is now to be laid down with tarred macadam, and will have a surface similar to that of Dixon-street, the treatment of which has just been completed. Many congratulatory references have been made concerning the Dixon-street work. After the railway station square is completed a number of smaller streets off the main thoroughfares will be treated.
