PROPAGANDA IN JAPAN
ALLEGED BRITISH AND AMERICAN INFLUENCE.
NEW YORK, 16th January.
The New York World's Tokio correspondent states that the vernacular press 13 printing special articles from Shanghai asserting that American and British interests are behind Wu Pei-fu's antagonism to. the Liang Shih-yi Ministry. The Nichi-Nichi-Shimbun reports that British arid American interests in China have determined to wipe out Liang Shihyi because of his pro-Japanese views,- and ■plan to defeat Chang Tso-lin, the Mukden war lord, for the- same reason. The majority of the newspapers assume-that war between the Chinese factions in the north is imminent. It is* reported that Sun Vat Sen has abandoned his campaign against Pekin for the .present, believing that there is nothing to be gained, by the South fighting the North, since the Northerners are going to fight among themselves, and will thus clear the way later for a Southern , victory. The Japanese say the present trouble will teach Americans what the real state of affairs in China is. '
