MR. J.M. MILNE'S ENTERPRISE.

What is essentially a New Zealand industry and one that is likely to confer a two-fold benefit on the Dominion has lately been started in Levin, thanks ,to the enterprise and enthusiasm of Mr. J. M. Milne, principal of the New Zealand All-Wool Bedding and Upholstery Warehouse. One of the main objects of this undertaking is the utilisation of New Zealand wool for mattresses, a use for which it is said to surpass the imported kapok. If an industry on these lines can be built up it would not only absorb surplus labour but would also diminish the over-plus of wool held in this country at present. All-classes of upholstery are also carried out by the company at the factory in /Queen-street, and an inspection of the manufactured article by a representative of The Post convinces him that this undertaking is no mere passingfancy of an enterprising man. An up-to-date wool-scouring, teasing, and purifying plant has been installed, and the "all-wool mattress" has become an accomplished fact.' It is destined to outclass every previouslyknown form of bedding. It ip superior in every detail to kapok, and'will last for ev^r. Wool, as everyone knows, has five times the life of kapok, and costs considerably less, besides being a product of our own country, andmuch more healthful and comfortable to rest upon. The New Zealand All-Wool Bedding and Upholgtery Warehouse, as the business is termed, is under the management of Mr. W. T. Biutchart.. Mr. Milne, the principal, directs operations at the scouring worki, and to him is due the thanks of the whole community for having conceived this new method of.utilising the district's output of wool. Mattresses are manufactured in all sizes and weight, their superiority over all others has already become widely known —so much so —that orders are already pouring in from all parts of the district, and it is quite evident that Mr. Milne's enterprise is going to prove a boon to the whole community. It is almost" impossible, of course, to adequately describe the "all-wool" mattress within the short limits of space at our disposal, but lotit be known that this latest method of utilising New Zealand wool, although only in its'infancy, has come to stay, and right glad the uheepfarmers and public will be to learn that the undertaking, is a veritable triumph, and a huge success. Anyone who doubts the statements herein contained need only visit the factory at Levin. Here you can see the wool, beautifully scoured and teased, entirely free from grease or smell, all ready for placing in the ticking ; then you can examine the manufactured mattress. It is really a beautiful piece of work, superior to anything yet devised. This same wool is also used in the factory* for upholstery work, and armchairs, couches, and settees exclusively padded with .it.*will, we ven-ture-to say, compare more than favourably with the old-time method of using kapok, flock, or flax. Give this enterprise yQUx<support.. It mean* money to us all. ■■'""■■.■■•
