The world's moat valuable'stamp collection, that of tlie late Duke Ferrari de !» Renotiere, was finally .dispersed by auction sale in Paris. The day's soles were close upon one million francs (nominally £40,000). while the total receipts oi the sale are stated to be nearly eight million francs (£320,000). Close upon iiatf a.million pounds is said to have beon spent by the Duko Ferrari upon the formation of his collection. The collection contained a used and unused specimen of every postage stamp issued down-to the end of the nineteenth century, .including the .only oopy in existence" of ■ the 1 cent British Guiana.
