Press Association reports of meetings | called to consider the scheme show that the Whakatane A. and P. Association discussed the question. Various speakers favoured the scheme, and ■ the meeting carried a resolution supporting the formation of a compulsory meat pool with! compulsory grading. The Hon. J. B. Gow was appointed delegate to the conference in Wellington. A largely-attended meeting representing Wairoa (Hawkes Bay) district sheepfarmers, the stock: firms, and the meat company unanimously favoured a betterment scheme for handling New .Zealand meat. The opinion was expressed that the industry was in danger of being wiped out unless freezing, shipping, and marketing charges were considerably reduced.
