MR. DOOLEY'S RETICENCE

ABOLITION OF SUPER-TAX.

(M!t» FIIN AH9CIATIOK.—COfXMMT.) .: \ ■ SYDNEY, 4th January | After a Cabinet meeting Mr. Dooley, the Premier, said he did not propose lo announce the date of the elect-ions until he delivered his policy speech. The Cabinet has decided to prat into immediate operation, the clause in. the new Electoral Act providing for compulsory enrolment. The new taxation proposals provide for the abolition of the super-tax. [Mr. Dooley announced last week that the Government intended to meet the deficit of two millions by. increasing the tax on incomes amounting to over £750 yearly, with, slight, -reductions on incomes under that amount. The Premier added that a, Bill providing this would be part of the platform, the Labour Party would submit to the electors, and would be introduced in the Legislative Assembly early in May next.
