DEMPSEY-CARPENTIER FIGHT.
"Was Dempeey nearly out?" is the question that has agitated fight followers ever since the memorable battle at Jersey City on 2nd July last. Dempsey declared • that he v was not, and until he afterwards saw the pictures of the fight was quite unaware that Carpentier had dealt him such a terrific blow. In the film record, vn the latter part of the second round Dempsey is distinctly seen to totter and reel sowards the ropes. Carpentier makes desperate efforts to land another telling blow, but Dempsey staves him off, and gradually gains the ascendancy. Some interesting side-lights on the extensive preparation and training necessary to fit the contestants to take part in the world's biggest fight, and excellent "close-ups" are features of the picture. Xhe first screening will be made at the Grand Opera House on Monday night.
Mr. Beaumont Smith, the well-known Australian film producer, arrives from Sydney to-morrow. Mr. Smith, while here," will arrange for another New Zealand picture.
