A record fine has been imposed by tha Hamburg "profiteering court. 1' Two mer. chants of that city have been sentenced to pay. 4,790,000 marks for the illicit impor* tation of and profiteering in 190,0001b of lard, besides serving a year in gaol. Liquidation of the Amerioan army stocks sold to Franc© for £80,000,000 has not produced enough to repay the purohAs* price at tho present rate of exchange. The total sale* to Ist June amounted to ■bout £47,000,000.
