AN IMPOSING FUNERAL

STREETS LINED WITH DENSE

CROWDS.

SYDNEY, 7th October. The route of the funeral of the late Mr. Storey, Premier of South Wales, from the Cathedral to the ra-il-■way station, for several hours before the cortege moved, was lined with dense crowds. After an impressive service at the Cathedral, conducted by the Dean and Primate of Sydney, the procession, ■which was headed by the fire brigade band and 3000 marching unionists,' left for the' Field of Mars cemetery. At , the railway station special trains were waiting for those marching. The Cathedral, where the body lay in state,. was visited by many thousands. It was one of the largest and most representative funerals held in the State, four motorcars being necessary- to carry the floral tributes. ■

Members of the Federal Labour Party ■were absent, the secretary telegraphing that they were unable to attend owing to the critical position in the House of Representatives.
