DUNEDIN, 10th September
The Otago Hunt Club held its annual race meeting at Wingatui to-day, in beautiful weather, which followed some early morning showers. There was a largo attendance of-patrons, and an attractive card provided some interesting racing, both on the flat and over the fences. The totalisator handled £17,----258, compared with £16,366 last year. Other results :—-
Kennels Handicap, of 200 soys; seven furlongs.—Listening Post, 8.13 (Voight), 1; Satisfaction, 10.2, 2; Bebehead, 8.9, 3. Also started: Sunny Corner 10.4, Kilboyne 9.1, Jock 8.8, Night Alarm 8.0, Multiplication 8.9. Won by a length. Time, lmin 30 2-ssoc. , Wingatui Trotting Handicap, of 150 soys; one mile and a-balf.—lndian Child, 48yds behind (T. Wallis), 1; Isla Wilkes, 12yds behind', 2; Silver Shoe, 204 yds behind, 3. Also started: Te Whare Child scr, Prestissimo scr, Silver Wilkes scr, Bronwood 36yds behind, Raymins 36, Nightcaps 60, Kanuknot 60, Honest Ned 72, Black Raven 72, Delville Wood 72, Minimax 96, Masterpiece 96, Russell Maid 120, Maljce 120. Won by four lengths; the same distance between second and third. Bronwood was fourth. Time, 3min 40 2-ssec.
Maiden Steeplechase (all 10.7), of 125 soys about two miles.—Castle Bar (L. Smith), 1; Browning, 2; Heroic, 3. Also started: Dusky, Likelihood, Canbinie, Tahvtna, Cappa. Won by twelve lengths, 200 yards between second and third. Tahuna, who was fourth, was the only other finisher. Time, Smin 31 4-ssec.
Vauxhall Hack Handicap, of 100 soys ; six furlongs.—Lomagandi, 7.9 (Andrew), 1; Ruena, 7.8, 2; Malata, 7.7, 3. Also started: Kilroy 8.7, Filigree 8.4, Osterman B.Q, Napenape 7.7, Miss Morn 7.7, Pap 7.7, Kerby. 7.7, Bonny Olive 7.7. Won by a head, a length between second and third. Osterman was fourth. Time, lmin 17sec. Hunters' Flat Handicap, of 100 soys; one milp and a-quarter.—War March, 9.7 (owner), 1; Red Book, 7.7, 2; Re,d Fire, 9.7, 3. Also started: Grim Joke 11.6, Claverhouse 11.2, Sign 10.7, Likelihood 10.2, Valencia 9.7. Won by a neck. Time, 2min 13 3-ssec.
