MORE ADVANCEMENT. IN COURTENAY-PLACE.
(Published by Arrangement.) ' What is without a doubt one of the most up-to-date tea and luncheon rooms in the Dominion has opened in 18-22, 'Courtenay-place, over Symonds Bros. The Dainties by name, and under the capable management of Mr. and Mrs. Jenkins, dainty it verily' is. What immediately strikes the visitor is the air of good taste and substantiality which is reflected in everything upon which The eye alights. The scheme of decoration is especially pleasing; the dominant colours are pale blue and a subdued shade of ibrown. Everything . about the large room is in perfect harmony, even the uniforms of the staff blend admirably ■with the general scheme of things. The viands to choose from comprise a large range of delectables, and to know that the kitchen from whence comes your food is a model of hygienic reform, presided over by a skilled chef, adds to the relish of the meal. All cooking, other than roasting and baking,; for which gas ovens are provided, is carried out by a Challenge plant of the latest automatic type, specially designed to meet requirements. This plant, designed, manufactured, and installed by Challenge Heating Systems, in conjunction with the firm of W. D. Robinson, plumbers,, who are specialists in this class of work, consists 'of ,a steam boiler with auxiliary water heater, and from one fire provides steam foj: cooking, boiling water v (untouched by, steam) for tea,, and hot. water for all culinary purposes! To carry out the cooking, three steamers (two of which are each capable of holding five or six large hams or a dozen, large puddings) and one stock-pot are provided. These also have been manufactured by the same firm, to their owA designs. , The silver is the best, and the quality and daintiness of the English crockery will find favour with even those of the most critical tastes. To meet at The Dainties is to show an. inside knowledge of the city's good things; to lunch there is to be served with a celerity and an interest which are refreshing. A skilled orchestra is in attendance during the busy parts of the day, and materially adds to the general enjoyment. After the theatre call for supper and you will be pleased. The' management has special facilities for catering for wedding parties, luncheons, banquets, and picnic parties. Morning and afternoon teas are specialties, whilst the four-course dinner at Is 6d) is undoubtedly the best and cheapest in Wellington. The whole establishment is open for public inspection, which is cordially invited. Do not delay in becoming acquainted with The Dainties, for there, indeed, is to be found everything for which the Wellington public has long waited.
