INFLUENZA
HEALTH DEPARTMENT'S PRECAUTIONS.
Information in the possession of the Health Department indicates that there is not at present anything like a recurrence of trie influenza epidemic of 1918, I but nevertheless the authorities are taking certain precautions. ■ Steps have been taken under the Health Act of last year to set up local ' emergency committees in the chief centres, so that no time n&d.'be lost if the need for their services should arise. The port heakji officers have been instructed to waff-fi carefully shipping arriving from overseas, and to refuse pratique to, any ship that has influenza cases abo«tl until directions have been received from the district health officers. The bacteriological branch of the Department has been instructed to have stocks of influenza vaccine in readiness.
